| The Good Old Days |
| The design heritage of JSA dates back to one of Pittsburgh’s most prestigious firms, Janssen & Cocken Architects, most noted for buildings such as the Omni-William Penn Hotel, Carnegie Mellon University’s Mellon Institute, and the Long Vue Country Club. |

Our firm was built on relationships.
Behind every project, study, and assessment we’ve completed, there’s been a relationship. A relationship JSA worked hard to cultivate by listening to our client, getting to know their operation inside and out, responding to their needs along the way, and ultimately delivering a winning solution.
It’s been that way since JSA first opened its doors in Pittsburgh, PA as a small two-person architectural firm back in 1939. We’ve since grown considerably. Our employees now serve high profile clients across the U.S. and our services have expanded to include planning, engineering and interior design, which makes us a true single-source firm.
We specialize in seven markets — retail, commercial, higher education, financial, light industrial, government, and urban design. Our designs include major department stores, large office buildings, and urban lifestyle centers, to name a few. We’ve also successfully handled projects for the hospitality, healthcare/research, and institutional industries, designing everything from country clubs to data centers to parking structures.
Throughout the years, we’ve never lost sight of the need to build solid relationships with our clients. That’s how we get to know your business so well and how we’re able to create customized designs that meet your needs the first time, every time.
