Biography

Mr. James V. Eckles, AIA, NCARB joined JSA in 1970, was named an Associate and Chief of Staff in 1979, Vice President in 1984, Senior Vice President in 1989 and President in 1998. Mr. Eckles is responsible for overall executive leadership, overseeing the management of a diverse team of professionals including architects, engineers, interior designers, and support staff, as well as business development, corporate planning and strategy.

His expertise in the retail industry is well known locally and nationally through his work with department stores, shopping centers, malls and themed retail institutions. Working with major retail companies including The May Department Stores Company, Federated Department Stores, J.C. Penney Co., Inc., Sears, Roebuck & Co., Montgomery Ward & Co., and most recently Dick’s Sporting Goods has become his specialty. Additional areas of expertise include the commercial, light industrial, financial, Educational, country club, healthcare, and mixed-use markets.
