Weirton Municipal Complex

This design was submitted to the State of West Virginia in response to a design/build competition for the Weirton Municipal Complex. The proposed structure, rectangular in plan and facing Cove Road, is articulated at about a one hundred twenty degree angle with the existing city building. In contrast to the mostly opaque city building, this new structure features large windows to the north and south. A cylindrical glass and masonry tower, ties the two buildings together while mitigating their different architectural styles. The proposed three-story complex, occupying approximately 42,700 square-feet would offer municipal, retail, and exhibit areas.
